I got full-mouth dental implants in late January and have worn temporary teeth. I’ve been waiting for my dentist to complete the work and place my final upper and lower teeth. My last appointment was three weeks ago, when the dentist recommended waiting three more weeks to ensure I’m fully healed.
Last week, I learned that my dentist lost her license. I paid for treatment upfront. I called the dental office, and the lady I spoke with said that I’m free to transfer my care to another dentist, and they would cooperate by sending my dental records to the new dentist. When I asked for a refund, she paused and said the office is working on the process. That’s vague. I paid upfront for my new implant dentures. My sister suggested hiring an attorney, but I can’t afford it now that I’ve given the dentist so much money. Can I resolve this without an attorney? Thanks. Estelle from TN
Estelle,

Palateless upper implant denture
Although your dentist lost her license, she may have sold her practice with a sales contract including an obligation for the new practice to complete dental work that she started. We recommend investigating that for the completion of your implant dentures. Otherwise, you can contact the Tennessee Board of Dentistry to report your concerns and get recommendations for attempting to get a refund for your dental work.
Although you can’t afford a lawyer, consider searching the Tennessee State Bar’s website for a free telephone consultation or another means of getting free legal advice.
