Dr. David Finley, Dr. P.J. Henderson, and the staff at Bayou Dental Group are dedicated to volunteerism and being actively involved in the Monroe community. Our dental team regularly participates in charity walks and races to raise awareness and funds for groups that are important to the community.
I think that being involved in the community is a great thing for anybody because volunteerism is an important part of our interaction with life. I have been involved in a lot of various things, but one that’s really near and dear to my heart is the fact that I’ve coached youth baseball for 15 years, and I think that trying to instill good values of work ethic and fun in kids through my coaching has enabled me to give something back to the community that they don’t get in a lot of ways. And I never coached to get patients. I coached because I love the game of baseball, and then I love kids, and an amazing thing happened. I have hundreds of patients that I used to coach.
And my staff, they’re all involved, all kinds of forms of volunteerism. They made me run the cancer run, of course, I walked they ran. My wife is involved in volunteerism in a lot of ways because she’s one of the driving forces in our area Cancer Foundation League, which provides help for cancer patients and their families.
We don’t look on volunteerism as advertising. We look on being out there to volunteer in a way that it’s because that’s what you’re supposed to do. You’re supposed to help your fellow man.
One of Dr. Finley’s passions is coaching youth sports. He has coached a youth baseball team for more than 15 years. He loves kids and enjoys investing in the future leaders of Monroe while building relationships that have lasted for years. His patients include many of his former players who, as adults, are now bringing their families to Bayou Dental Group. Valerie, Dr. Finley’s wife, is also an active advocate for the Cancer Foundation League, which directly helps cancer patients and their families.
Our doctors’ philosophy is that giving back to the community and helping others is not just rewarding. It’s a responsibility we all have to help our fellow man. Investing in the people around us makes our community stronger and more vibrant as individuals become interconnected through common goals and personal relationships.
