At Bayou Dental Group we provide metal-free dentistry. Dr. Finley and Dr. Henderson all use biocompatible dental restorations that support your health and won’t provoke metal allergies or sensitivities.
Metal Allergies and Sensitivities
People with metal allergies and sensitivities can experience reactions from dental restorations that contain metal. Although nickel is the most common trigger, beryllium and chromium can also provoke reactions. Dental crowns and bridges that contain metal can cause chronic irritation and inflammation in the surrounding gum tissue in sensitive individuals. Common sensitivities are redness and inflammation in the gums, itching sensations, or general malaise.
Metal-Free Restorations
Whether you need a dental crown, bridge, or a filling, we offer a metal-free solution that will help you avoid an adverse reaction and the discomfort that follows.
All-ceramic crowns
All-ceramic crowns are biocompatible and aesthetically pleasing. You don’t have to worry about adverse reactions from the materials. Today’s dental ceramics and bonding technology provide durable restorations that last. Some advantages include:
- Strength – They are strong and durable.
- Esthetics – Their translucency and color blend with your natural teeth.
- Metal free – You won’t experience darkening around your gumline as with a porcelain-fused-to-metal crown.
Zirconia
Zirconia is an exceptionally strong dental ceramic that has the translucency of natural teeth. It is metal free, compatible with the human body, and doesn’t create adverse reactions. We provide zirconia crowns and bridges to give you a healthy, beautiful smile that will last.
Lithium disilicate
Lithium disilicate, a new high-strength ceramic, is the foundation for e.max crowns. With the e.max crown, the core is milled from a block of lithium disilicate, which is color-matched to your tooth. That block, however, doesn’t have any of the tints or customizations that are present in natural teeth. Those elements are added in a veneer of porcelain that is baked over the visible portion of the crown to produce a remarkably lifelike restoration.
Composite fillings
Amalgam, or silver, fillings contain a mixture of metals. We only use composite fillings, which require less removal of your healthy tooth structure than amalgam. Composite fillings bond to and strengthen your teeth. Dr. Finley or Dr. Henderson will choose a composite that matches the color of your teeth and looks natural.
