The key for a patient having a great relationship with their dentist starts really early in life. I know my kids don’t fear going to the dentist and I don’t want other people’s kids fearing going to the dentist.
We start their visits very early. We have kids all the time that we might find a cavity too on them. Maybe they don’t even have to have a shot to solve the problem because we found it at a early stage. We’re able to use air abrasion technology to softly clean out that decay. Then, we’re able to solve problems for their dental problems in such a way that they don’t feel pain even if we give them a shot. They go outside and the Mom says, “Did he give you a shot?” “Well, no. He put my tooth to sleep but he didn’t give me a shot.”
Dentistry for kids is a great thing. That’s why I hire people here that love children.
Dr. Finley is a member of two prestigious dental fellowships – The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the Academy of General Dentistry – an honor held by fewer than 30 dentists in the world. Everyone in your family deserves this level of care, and you deserve the convenience of bringing everyone to one facility!
There are several benefits to choosing our general and family dentistry services:
- There’s no risk of anyone’s dental records slipping through the cracks since everyone will be visiting the same office, from ages 2 to 92!
- Your children will be more comfortable during their first dental visit if they’ve been visiting alongside you
- You can limit anxiety by developing a long-time, trusting relationship with the same dental office for life
- By seeing everyone in your family, we can be aware of inherited dental issues before they manifest into problems
Give Your Children The Same Level Of Dental Care You Give Yourself
The American Dental Association recommends that parents take their baby to the dentist six months after the first tooth appears or as soon as the child turns 1. The first checkup is more about prevention than treatment, and it is about getting your child used to the dental environment and regular appointments. These visits are also opportunities for older kids to get to know Dr. Finley, Dr. Henderson, and our staff better, so they can be more comfortable and relaxed on future appointments.
Your child’s first dental visit is often short. You may be asked to sit in the dental chair while holding your child as one of our doctors checks their mouth or “counts their teeth.” We’ll look for potential problems and assess the risk for cavities, and may clean their teeth. Dr. Finley or Dr. Henderson will also discuss oral hygiene, habits like thumb sucking, cavity prevention, and proper nutrition for children.
