We treat patients on a daily basis who have a deep, genuine fear of the dentist — or at least, they used to before they started coming to our office in Monroe, LA.
Dental anxiety can prevent people from getting the care that they need and deserve. By the most conservative estimates, it affects tens of millions of people across the United States. You may be one of them, or you may know someone who has mentioned that they are scared of going to the dentist.
This is understandable. If you had a bad incident in your childhood or even as an adult, it can affect you for many years afterward.
Our team at Bayou Dental Group wants to change your perception of what dental care should be like. It’s why we offer sedation. It’s why we have gone out of our way to create a comfortable atmosphere.
It’s why we hope you will call 318-323-9303 to learn more about us and, hopefully, visit us in the near future.
Our Most Important Patient
For our team, the most important patient is the person sitting in the chair in front of us. We will do what we can to help you feel relaxed and comfortable.
For some people, this means taking advantage of one or all of our comfort options:
- Comfortable exam chairs
- Soft pillows
- Warm, cozy blankets
- Complimentary beverages
- The option to listen to music or watch a movie during your appointment
In addition to these amenities, we also use technologies that make dental care more efficient and as painless as it can be.
For example, someone who had a cavity or a root canal years ago may be fear that a dentist might use a drill to remove the decay or to create an opening to reach the infection inside the tooth. Drills can be loud, and they can cause unpleasant vibrations.
Today, we use air abrasion tools instead of the drill. These tools give us a quiet and gentle way to remove decay, so you can get a filling or crown.
Laser dentistry is another improvement we have added to our practice. Laser tools allow us to remove gum tissue without cutting into the tissue. Instead, we can evaporate infected tissue and seal it in a pain-free way and shortens recovery time as well.
Stay Calm
As valuable as our compassionate team, comfort options, and advanced technology may be, we also recognize that may not be enough for patients with severe dental anxiety. To help you if you are one of them, we offer sedation dentistry as well.
Sedation can:
- Help you feel relaxed
- Prevent you from feeling pain
- Stop you from gagging
- May keep you from remembering anything about your appointment
Know What To Expect
Last but not least, we want you to be aware of everything going on with your dental care. One of the most common concerns we hear is that patients do not want to be surprised. We are happy to explain what will happen during your procedure and to answer any questions you may have.
We welcome you to contact Bayou Dental Group by calling 318-323-9303 or filling out our online form.
