With the ever-changing times, we’re trying to find our new normal here at the office. We currently follow all of the infection-control guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for the dental setting. This includes watching for updates on how to combat the spread of the coronavirus. You can always feel confident that you are safe with us at your appointment.
We recognize that the dental setting has a unique set of characteristics that warrant specific infection control considerations. Our goal is to prioritize the most critical dental services and provide care in a way that minimizes harm to our patients in hopes of preventing or delaying care and harm to personnel and patients from potential exposure to COVID-19.
The number one thing to proactively remember is that we require all personnel and patients to stay at home if they feel sick or become ill.
Changes
Here at Bayou Dental Group, we’ve adapted some very specific changes to the way we do things. Until further notice, we require all of our patients and staff members to wear a mask when they are in the building. Your dental specialist will inform you when it’s time to remove it.
We ask that when you arrive, you give us a call and someone will greet you at the door. Please wait until it’s time for your appointment. Additionally, we ask that if you’re a new patient, you fill out your paperwork in your car. A staff member will conduct a temperature check before you enter the office. If it’s over 100, we will require you to reschedule for a later date.
Finally, you’ll be asked to fill out a COVID questionnaire prior to your appointment.
Staff
At Bayou Dental, we take our staff cleanliness and sterilization very seriously.
All of our staff members wear jackets that they change at lunch-time and then again at the end of the day. We wash them all in-house.
Furthermore, we wipe down each room twice after every single patient, and our lobby is sprayed down several times throughout the day.
In addition to washing jackets and changing them daily, we make sure to wipe down all common areas thoroughly and frequently.
When it comes time for your actual appointment, our staff will be well-covered. All of our staff members are required to wear eye protection in addition to their facemasks. This is to ensure that their eyes, nose, and mouth are all protected from exposure to respiratory secretions during patient care encounters. They will even wear them when splashes and sprays are not anticipated.
