When you think of your favorite actor or actress, what do you think of first? You may think of their biggest role. You may think of their lavish lifestyle.
You may think of him or her flashing a smile at one red carpet event after another.
We’ve mentioned the “Hollywood smile” in previous blogs, but you may not realize that you can have that smile without going to California. We offer cosmetic services in our dentist office for all our patients in and around Monroe, LA.
We can’t promise you the fame or the wealth of Julia Roberts, George Clooney, or Bradley Cooper. But, we can help you get a more beautiful smile with veneers.
Keep reading to learn more about what veneers are and how they can help you.
What Are Veneers?
Remember the “Hollywood Smile” we mentioned above? Well, veneers actually got their start as part of a Hollywood film.
In 1928, a dentist named Charles Pincus was hired to make a temporary covering to change the appearance of an actor’s teeth in one scene.
After the movie was over, Pincus kept working on this idea. Eleven years later he made his first dental veneers out of fabricated acrylic. The bonding material he used wasn’t particularly strong, so these early veneers didn’t last long enough to be considered a permanent solution.
As more people worked on this idea, porcelain veneers were developed. This made veneers more realistic. The bonding materials have gotten better, too, which means that veneers will now last for decades.
When someone mentions a Hollywood smile in the future, you’ll know those smiles actually have their origins in movie making.
We gave you a little background on veneers, but that didn’t exactly answer our original question. So, what are veneers?
Veneers are like a shell for your teeth that can completely change the appearance of your smile.
You could think of it like new vinyl siding for your house. It may not change the overall shape of your house, but it can make your house look cleaner and nicer. Veneers can do the same thing for your smile.
How Veneers Can Help You?
Veneers are one of the most versatile products within the field of cosmetic dentistry.
In a couple weeks and few visits to our dentist office in Monroe, LA, we can transform you smile from something you may be trying to hide into something you are proud to share.
Here are some examples of the things you could fix with a set of our custom-made porcelain veneers:
◼︎ Crooked teeth
If you are looking for a long-term solution, you can wear braces or some other orthodontic device for a few years. Or, you can get a set of veneers so your teeth look straighter.
Once your veneers are in place, your smile will look like you have a set of perfectly straight teeth.
◼︎ Gaps in your teeth
Gap-toothed smiles are OK for some, although many people with gaps are embarrassed by the attention that comes with them. Would you like to close your gap? Then veneers are your solution.
Veneers can be created so that your teeth look like they are evenly spaced with no gaps between them.
◼︎ Crowded teeth
This is the opposite of the previous problem, but veneers will work just as well in this situation. Rather than showing teeth that are pressed into one another — and maybe pushed into odd angles — you could have a smile that looks evenly spaced with teeth that are parallel to one another.
◼︎ Yellow teeth
Yellow, discolored teeth may be the result of stains, or they can be caused by some other problem. Teeth whitening works well on stains, but it may not work on yellowing if it’s because of worn-down enamel, for example.
Instead, you can get veneers to make your smile look whiter and brighter
◼︎ Combination problems
Pick any two or three of the issues we mentioned above. You can fix all of them — at the same time — with a personalized set of porcelain veneers from Bayou Dental Group.
With veneers, you will have a natural-looking that is whiter, brighter, and straighter than the one you already have.
Smile For Miles
Those first veneers were only intended for short-term use, but modern porcelain veneers could last for decades with proper care and maintenance.
Veneers are versatile. Veneers are fast, and veneers are durable. You can improve your smile and keep it looking that way for a long time with a little time and a couple visits to our dentist office in Monroe, LA.
