Do you play video games? If not, it’s no big deal. We are mentioning them for a specific reason today.
In a lot of modern games, one of the things players are asked to do is create their character. Depending on the game, you may be able to change every detail of the character’s appearance.
In many games, you can make a character who looks like you — similar hair, height, build, etc. Or you can make a character as wild as you would like.
In real life, changing your appearance is more complicated that just pushing a few buttons. Nevertheless, Americans spend billions of dollars on cosmetic products and procedures every year.
That includes cosmetic dentistry, which is one of the many services we offer at Bayou Dental Group. Your smiles are important to the team at our dentist office. Give us a call if you live in or near Monroe, LA, and you would like to create a new smile for yourself.
Smile Creation Process
We have noticed over the years that many patients like to have an idea what their new smiles will look like before they start cosmetic dental care.
This is why we started what we call our “smile creation” process at our office. We don’t just want to tell you what you can do. We want you to be involved in deciding how your smile will change.
We may use a mix of photography and model creation to help you visualize what your teeth look like today and what your teeth could look like at the end of your cosmetic care. By examining three-dimensional scans and digital X-rays, we can gain an even greater understanding of where you are compared to where you would like to be.
Once we understand your goals, we can help you find the best options to turn that dream smile into a reality.
Cosmetic dentistry can include a wide range of services and procedures. To give you some idea what is possible, here are some of the options that we offer in our practice:
- Teeth whitening — If you read our previous post, then you already know that we use Zoom! whitening products for our patients. Whether you elect to receive in-office whitening or you prefer take-home whitening, your teeth could be up to eight shades whiter when you are finished.
- Porcelain onlays — If you have ever chipped a single tooth, then you know that one change can affect the appearance of your smile. It can affect your confidence about sharing your smile, too.
- Veneers — Veneers may be the single most versatile cosmetic service that we officer. We have heard veneers compared to fake fingernails since they are bonded to the outside your teeth to change their appearance. The key difference is that veneers can last for decades at a time.
- Dental implants — Some of you may be asking, isn’t that a restorative dental service? Sure it is, but it can serve a cosmetic purpose at the same time.
Our in-office treatment takes about an hour while take-home treatments can improve the color of your smile in a few weeks.
An onlay can help you restore the full appearance of your tooth and help you feel like you have a complete smile once again. For problems that don’t really require a dental crown, onlays can be a simpler solution.
Veneers have been used to make teeth look straighter. Veneers have been used to close gaps between teeth, and veneers have been used to fix broken, chipped, or worn down teeth. While we are at it, we also should mention that veneers are another option to whiten your smile.
Whether you chose porcelain or zirconia veneers, you can feel confident that your veneers will look like natural teeth and be durable enough to survive daily use.
If you lose a tooth, it may make you feel self-conscious about letting other people see your smile. Replacing the tooth with a dental implant is a great long-term solution. The implant can support a dental crown, which will feel, function, and look like your remaining natural teeth.
Your Smile Isn’t A Game
In a video game, if something goes wrong you can just try again. You only have one smile. We want you to be happy to share it with the world.
